Love in a Grotto
OHHHH April + Adam.
April + Adam….so many MANY things I could say, and everything I say would describe how amazing they are. April had reached out to me before CoVid, and had planned a small, intimate ceremony with a party at a restaurant afterwards. As many people know, 2020 had different plans, and slight changes were made to their day…perfect changes.
Getting married at Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto on St Edward’s University, surrounded by their nearest and dearest, April + Adam said I DO. It was personal, it was intimate, and when you look at Aprils face in these images, you can tell how ecstatic she is to be marrying the love of her life.
The reception was held at an airbnb in Austin, where they served world famous bbq, Franklin’s. (I can’t eat any other bbq now, I’m a complete snob.) Family and friends hung out on the back porch, April’s niece swam in the pool, toasts were made, stories were told, and live music from a local Austin musician played in the background.
Weddings can be stressful. There are so many details, plans, expectations on a wedding day. This wedding showed me that love is not canceled. It’s never canceled. You can do whatever you want on your wedding day. IT’S YOUR DAY. April was never stressed as a bride, and I think it’s because she was just so excited to marry Adam, that nothing else mattered. Small intimate weddings are my new jam….
CoVid has changed a lot of things, but one thing hasn’t changed, and that’s love. April + Adam showed that.
Love conquers all.
A few tidbits from April:
“My dress was an impulse purchase from ASOS. I had tried on prob 50 other dresses from various bridal shops including bhldn in NYC and just couldn’t find anything that captures what I was looking for. So I bought it off the rack for a whopping $200!”
“My flowers were designed by my best friends mother. My bestie died in 2006 from cancer so having her represented during my big day was HUGE! And her mother did a beautiful job.”
“My hair was a last minute decision by my sister. Ha! She booked us appointments at dry bar downtown. We were the first clients they had since quarantine!”
“Adam’s suit was a custom made Tom Ford that he’s had for a long time. He’s blessed/cursed with a build that doesn’t fit into most suit cuts and you go Tom Ford, I guess you never go back. Ha!”
